About me.
My name is Cathal Ferris.
I’m originally from Bansha, in the green and visually stunning landscape of the Glen of Aherlow. After education in Rockwell I earned my place in the University of Limerick to study Mechanical Engineering. I changed over to Information Technology and Telecommunications in 1999, and graduated in 2002. I’ve returned to UL to pursue a full-time Masters of Engineering, hoping to graduate in January 2013.
After some time working in Cork for some tech start-ups, and in Limerick with another tech startup, I spent three and a bit years working with NetIQ – a multinational company that have the Irish offices based in Galway. My current employer (and the best one so far) is Thomson Reuters, based in Castletroy. Life’s become a lot better without a significant commute.
I’ve been seeing Sarah for some time and she’s just wonderful ;)
Non-work interests are based outdoors in kayaking, mountainbiking, and astronomy and indoors in PC building and modification.
I drive an Audi A4 avant, and I think it is a great car. I’ve done a bit of work on it and it’s holding up well for ~300,000 kms or so on the clock
